History

The first meeting was by invitation from John O’Sullivan, senior partner of the Practice, who wanted to form a Patient Participation Group for the Practice.

A letter was sent out to all patients and the first meeting was held on 19th June 1991.  Following that there were several informal meetings and many people attended from the different parishes.  The first “official” meeting was on 1st October when Sam Sowton was elected chairman, and then terms of reference were drawn up.  The steering group was made up of representatives of the parishes the practice served.  The meetings were always hosted by the Practice –wine and nibbles provided!!- and were held in the evening.

Sam was chairman for many years and has only just passed away.   Dr O’Sullivan used his contacts to provide speakers for the open meetings – mostly hospital consultants

Meetings were moved outside the surgery premises in order to keep some independence and be able to represent the patients objectively.

The PPG now meet in Twyford Village Hall bi-monthly on 2nd Tuesday afternoon at 2.15pm.    If you have any questions you would like to raise please use the contact form to let us know.   We are always happy to liaise with the surgery on your behalf.
